Remember beagle pup DIXIE? At just 9 months old she was hit by a car, and found abandoned in a shelter with multiple injuries to her leg. Her future was dim, but thanks to so many generous donors and awesome volunteers, You Lucky Dog Rescue was able to pull DIXIE from the shelter and pay for her extensive reconstructive leg surgery. Following her surgery she stayed with a dedicated YLDR volunteer until she was ready to go to a Foster family. DIXIE was pieced back together with multiple pins and external fixators, and required special care. The Hollmer family did an amazing job taking care of DIXIE, and now will continue to do so for the rest of her life as they have adopted her! When you nurse a dog back to health as a foster parent, it creates a bond like no other that endures beyond the possibility that they will one day become a furever pet for another family. We couldn't be happier as DIXIE has been home all along! Thank you Hollmer family for your fabulous foster fail!
